Mothers of Xsan

Mother’s of Xsan is a series of books for young people dedicated to sharing the teachings about the life cycles of different species on Gitxsan Territory. Brett Huson creates the stories and shares the teachings from the Gitxsan knowledge systems while utilizing scientific terms in English to show the parallels between Gitxsan understandings of the world and Western understandings. There are also Gitxsan words throughout the stories to teach people about the language.

Although the stories are geared toward young people, there is much information for adults and families! The stories are a way of taking Gitxsan knowledge into a new era with new stories.
